Basketball -- St.Claude

The 'Coach of the Month' is featured the last Monday of every month in 'News Final' at 11:00 on Global Winnipeg.

Courtney Despiegelaere, although nominated for basketball, also coaches volleyball, and also helped some athletes perfect their fastball pitch.  Courtney created her basketball team from scratch. Although in their first year as a team they were unable to win a game, their knowledge of the game was strengthened. In their second year, the team was able to successfully win a game and two of her players achieved all star status. By Courtney's third year of coaching, all of her work and dedication paid off. The team is now ranked third in zone 6 with a record of 4-3.

Coach Despieglaere has always been a positive role model to her athletes by always encouraging them to improve and beat their own records. Courtney promotes sportsmanlike conduct amongst all of her players and is very well respected by all of her athletes.

In order to improve teamwork, Courtney often uses activities based on trust in order to promote positive attitudes among her athletes.
