SPORT RESOURCE CENTRE

Coaches in Manitoba might want to take down these directions: Winnipeg, 145 Pacific Avenue, second floor. That’s where coaches will be able to find Sport Manitoba’s Sport Resource Centre at the brand new Sport for Life Centre.
The opening of the Sport for Life Centre marks an exciting new era for athletics in our province. But of all the new features the centre will provide, the Sport Resource Centre promises to be the ultimate in network, education, and improvement services for coaches in Manitoba.
“The Sport Resource Centre will provide a one stop shop to coaches,” says Greg Guenther, Director of Coaching for Sport Manitoba. “It is a place that coaches, officials, and sport volunteers can come to gain access to resources, video and written; to do online learning; to learn of coaching opportunites; or to do research.”
Guenther noted that coaches’ options have been limited in the past because the networking between sport organizations wasn't as it is now with the Sport for Life Centre. “We will encourage all the provincial sport governing bodies, as well as sport medicine and science council and their partners, to house resources relevant to the Manitoba sport community within the Sport Resource Centre.”
While a feature of the Sport Resource Centre will be the convenience of having numerous resources in one central location, coaches will not have to be at the downtown Winnipeg location to utilize the centre, The Sport Resource Centre intends to help coaches across the province with educational resources to be available through webcasts and online seminars.
With help from the Winnipeg Foundation, the Sport Resource Centre is anticipated to open this summer 2010.
