Creating solutions ......
one reponse at at time
Well, it’s only been a couple of weeks, but we’ve received a lot of great feedback to our article, “C’mon that’s a brutal call.”
Negative or positive, an open dialogue is the only way we can help rectify the situation and make sport fun for all participants. Whether they are athletes, coaches, officials or fans, sport should be an enjoyable experience at all ages.
Here’s just a sample of some of the comments we’ve received.
“I do feel that referees organisations need to do a better job of giving their officials the tools to deal with these problems, as I do not believe that they are going to disappear in the near future.”
“Coaches are responsible for not only their bench but their parents as well and in my experience very few can or will manage the latter. Maybe we should add inter-personal skills training to the NCCP offerings too.”
We still want to hear more from you. If you have any thoughts or feelings on the treatment of officials and any ideas you may have stop this behaviour, please send them to coaching@sport.mb.ca
We hope to share some more of these letters in an upcoming Coaches Clipboard so that everyone can learn from each other.
