COACHING SEMINARS AWARDS PROGRAM
Today we would like to focus on the Coaching Seminars Award .
If your Community Centre or Recreation District would like to pursue the opportunity of hosting a Coaching Seminar, this award will provide you with a grant to grow coaching knowledge for sport specific coaches or a variety of coaches from your community.
We encourage you to work with your Sport Manitoba Regional Office and your Provincial Sport Organization to create the best possible seminar for your coaches!
Seminar Topic Ideas:
Pre-season Training & Conditioning Athlete Nutrition- Fueling the System
Sport Psychology Skills Sport Specific Skill Development
Sport Specific Offensive & Defensive Systems Injury Prevention
Developing Core Strength Flexibility Training
Drills that keep the practice FUN! Teaching FUNdamental Movement Skills
Detailed Award Criteria:
- Grants in support of coaching seminars may be made to host organization (university or provincial/regional sport association).
- Seminars must occur between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009. The Coaching Seminars Program is targeted at the development of coaches within a sport, or a number of sports, at the grassroots, developmental or high performance levels.
- Coaches need to be provided the opportunity to share and expand their knowledge, improve their skills and participate in coaching development seminars to supplement the information and techniques they have developed through the National Coaching Certification Program and their own experiences.
- Preference will be given to those organizations that offer innovative seminars not previously funded by the Fund.
Award Value:
- Two grants of up to $4,000 are available to the host organization.
